File exchange from Windows

FileZilla

Download FTP-client FileZilla for your operating system. This software is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. You can download it from https://filezilla-project.org/

Be careful when installing, because the setup program may suggest installing additional software. If you want to install only FileZilla, select Decline:

After that you can open FileZilla, enter the following data and click to the Quickconnect button:

If you’re connecting for the first time, you’ll need to confirm a host key, received from a remote server. Check the box for Always trust this host, add this key to the cache and press OK. No server-side configuration is required as SSH access is enabled by default.

Now you can upload or download any files with a simple drag & drop or by using the context menu. To learn more about how to work with FileZilla, we recommend referring to the documentation.

Cyberduck

Another option for file transfer is Cyberduck. This software supports a range of protocols, including FTP, SFTP, and WebDAV. Additionally Cyberduck can connect to public cloud storage services like Amazon S3, Microsoft OneDrive, and Google Cloud Storage. It's open-source and free to use, and works on both Windows and macOS operating systems.

Just like FileZilla, the first SFTP-connection needs to be confirmed. Tick the Always and click the Allow button. After that you can manage and transfer files on a remote server. Cyberduck has a useful feature: synchronization. Change remote directory, open FileSynchronize and select the local directory:

Check files and synchronization mode, proceed with the Continue button. All content from the local directory will be synced with the remote server.

WinSCP

This utility is open source and provides secure file exchange with remote servers using the SCP and SFTP protocols. You can download WinSCP from the project's official website or its repository on GitHub. After installation, click on New Tab:

Then select SFTP from the drop-down list and fill Host name with the server’s IP address. Enter your credentials and click on Login button:
